Amazing Coin Vanish Trick

The Magic Effect:

A coin is placed on a table right in front of your audience. An upturned glass is placed next to the coin. The glass is then covered with a silk or handkerchief and then placed over the coin. When the silk is removed, the coin has mysteriously vanished into thin air. The silk is then placed over the glass which is then lifted.

The Magic Secret:

This magic coin trick needs to be done on a white surface or tablecloth. Previous to performing the trick, a simple gimmiick has been prepared by gluing a circle of white paper to the rim of the glass. When the upturned glass is placed over the coin, it will cover it and to the unsuspecting audience, it will look as if the coin has vanished. This cool coin trick is fun and easy to do.

Palm Penetration

A clever impromptu trick where a coin appears to pass through your hand

Effect: You ask the spectator to hold out his or her hand palm up. You in turn place your hand on top of theirs, palm down. With your other  free hand, you place a quarter or other coin on top of your hand and explain to the spectator that with one quick slap of the coin, you will make it pass through your hand and into theirs !

Materials needed:   2 identical coins, a small piece of transparent adhesive tape or magician's wax, ( for advanced magicians super fast sleight of hand will do ).

Method: When you place your hand on top of the spectators open hand, you will already have the coin in your palm. If you place your hand on top of theirs quickly enough, the coin will not fall nor will the spectator already feel it in their hand ! You then place the " other " coin on top, on the back of your hand.

On the palm of your other free hand, is where the tape or wax will be. Then with a quick motion, you smack the top of the coin, which will stick to the tape/wax. Slowly remove your other hand to let the surprised spectator see how it " magically " passed through your hand! For those advanced magicians out there (you know who you are) you can quickly grab the quarter instead of using the tape/wax.

If you do not wish to use the spectators hand,  you can do the same trick on your lap, but  performing the trick in their hand is much more convincing to them.

Magic Money Bill Fold

This is a fantastic piece of impromptu magic that can be performed anywhere at a moments notice.

How To Do The Trick :
The magician takes a dollar bill (or any bill he chooses) out of his pocket and presents it to the audience. While displaying in his hand open palm up with the bill unfolded and flat in the magician's palm, it suddenly begins to move. But its not just moving, its folds itself up. First in half, then sideways until its completely folded neatly in the magician's palm!

You Will Need :

1. A Dollar Bill (or any money bill you choose to use).
2. Magicians thread - . A good alternative is black nylon line, but make sure its extremely thin!
3. Clear Scotch tape.

 

Note: Using invisible thread
One thing to keep in mind when using invisible thread is that you should be wearing light coloured clothing to act as the backdrop to the thread not dark shaded ones. Darker shaded clothes cause the light to reflect in a way that reveals the magicians thread. Sowear non reflective light coloured clothing .This way it is more "invisible" to the spectators. Also, pay attention to the lighting in the area that you are performing and attempt to have the light source pointing directly at you if you can. You do NOT want the light source to come from behind you as it will will reflect off the thread and reveal the thread to your audience.

 

Setting up the Self Folding Gimmick

 

The beauty of this money magic trick gimmick is that it's extremely simple to construct. No complex mechanism to this gimmick, just string and tape!

First thing you should do is fold the bill in half 3 times. Take a look at the photo to get a good idea of how to fold.

The next thing to do is to take the invisible thread and using a sewing needle (get the thinnest gauge you can find so it doesn't leave a sizable hole), pass the thread through half of the bill. Take a look at the illustration to get a good idea on where to do this.

I recommend finding a point in the bill where you are passing through just the green part of the bill and not the white. Also the part you are passing through is going to be the bottom of the gimmick and into the middle fold [See photo 4]. The area you are passing the invisible thread through should 4 layers of the bill. I usually place the bill flat on a piece of wood and push the needle down through the bill so that I don't poke myself or widen the hole the needle will make.Carelfully pull the thread through the folds.

Once you have the thread through, you need to attach it to the area adjacent to the hole on the other side of the fold (should be the center area). Use the clear tape to do so. Your bill should look like photo 5. Photo 6 shows a different angle where [A] is where the thread passes through and [B] is where the thread is attached. Use a exacto knife to precut the clear tape smaller, or alternatively, use rubber cement or professional modeling glue (not the type that is for plastic parts) to attach the thread. If you do that, make sure it dries completely before you use it, otherwise it will be tacky and eventually break the bond.

Now cut the thread on the opposite side from where you have attached it. Your cut should be about 12-15 inches [or more, you will see how long] away from the bill and attach that end to something you carry in your pocket. I recommend you read through the entire article first before cutting so that you can get a better idea of how long the thread should be. Attach it to something like a wallet or deck of cards or whatever you might carry in your front pocket. It really doesn't matter what it is, because it's just acting as an anchor and will not be seen in the trick. Therefore, make sure its has some weight to it.

Performing the magic trick!

Preparation for this magic trick is pretty simple after you have constructed the gimmick. Just carefully unfold the bill so that its open [photo 7 & 8]. Give the thread enough slack to allow you to adjust the bill. I also would make the line a little slack just so when it starts to pull tight, it will cause a small movement in the bill to make it more dramatic.

Now, to make it clear, when you pull the bill out in front of the audience, it should be folded. Try to be as casual as possible when unfolding. Once unfolded your bill should be laying in your palm like in photo 9. The thread that is coming out the bottom should follow between your fingers next to your palm area like in photo 10. The thread will run from under your hand down into your pocket and attached to the anchor.

Find a comfortable length to hold your arm in front of you and make sure you uphold a natural position. This will dictate how long you should cut the thread also. So make sure you have your hand at a natural position with the palm up displaying the unfolded bill.

It's time for the magic! To make the bill fold itself, gently move your hand away from your body. As your hand moves slowly (and hopefully un-noticed), the bill will start to fold itself! First it will fold itself in half! Then it will fold over in a different direction, and finally it will fold itself one final time! Practice in front of a mirror to determine the best speed and motion to do this with. Once the bill is folded all the way grip it with your thumb and fingers and put it back in your pocket!

Coin Vanish Street Magic Trick

An easy to do David Blaine style street magic trick exposed where you vanish and reappear a quarter in a spectator's hand

Effect : A spectator tries to grab a quarter from your hand. The quarter mysteriously vanishes right in front of their eyes. You in your own cool street magician style, make the quarter re appear from out of the sky.

You Need: A quarter. A little bit of entertaining patter

How It's Done: Approach a member of the public or your audience and ask if they are interested in a coin trick challenge.

If yes, then bring out a quarter or other coin from your pocket and hold it between your thumb and finger, in your right hand. Tell your assistant that you will count to three and on the count of three, if they can grab the coin from your hand, that they can keep it.

Now ask the assistant to stretch out their arm and hold their hand, palm up and open. Proceed to lift your hand with the coin, above your head and bring your hand down over their hand, counting one, two and three, each time you bring down your hand over theirs,

As you begin to bring down your hand for the third time, gently drop the coin on top of your head. When you bring down your hand and shout "Three"!! they will make a grab for the coin which will have mysteriously vanished.

Now hold out both your hands to show them that your are not concealing the quarter and that it has truly vanished. Tell your assistant that you will magically summon the coin back.

Hold out their hand in front of them. Open their hand palm facing up and as they are paying attention to their hand, use this moment of distraction to gently lower your head and let the quarter fall into their hand.

The coin will appear to have fallen from the sky. This is an easy to do street magic style trick exposed whose entertainment value is as good as your entertaining style allows it to be.

Fly Resurrection

 

This trick is of medium skill level

Effect: You are walking down the street and casually pick any spectator.

You ask them to come with you to a nearby car and pick a dead fly off the windscreen.

You hold it in your hand do a few passes with the other hand and appear to be really concentrating and the fly slowly comes back to life to the surprise of the spectator.

Preparation: Freeze the fly

Method: You need to catch a fly and chill it. which puts it in a temporary coma, this can be done by swatting the fly hard enough to immobilise it then placing it in a small container in the freezer for a short time.

The fly then needs to be quickly taken to a suitable windscreen IN THE SHADE and placed there.

It is important that the car is in the shade to prevent the fly from defrosting too quickly.

Then go and find a spectator and take them back to the car which should appear to be randomly picked.

The heat of your hand will revive the fly which should soon start to move.

A lot of this trick is in the actions of you reviving the fly.

It may be necessary to practice how long it takes for the fly to revive itself.

Freezing the fly as quickly as possible with dry ice is a better way of freezing the fly as because it is quicker it causes less damage to the fly.

This is a great trick but depends on the magician creating an atmosphere with an entertaining routine and patter about black magic to enhance the trick and create misdirection to allow himself an opportunity to pull off the trick.

Make A Cigarette Vanish And Reappear

This trick can be done almost anywhere and requires minimal preparation. It is a good ice breaker and can look absolutely baffling to your audience
Preparation: This trick requires the use of a cigarette or a short straw. If using a straw make sure that it is about the same length as your thumb.
Performance: A cigarette or straw is shown to be held in your hand up close to your spectator. A magic wave of your hand later the cigarette has vanished into thin air, right in front of them !!
